Lancaster, California

Minutes of the November 2000 regular business meeting.

Meeting was called to order by Mr. Crawford at 2003 hours in the Club car on
the AV Fairgrounds.

Members present: J. Beasley, R. Boone, T. Crawford, D. Frozina, M. Lacey,
D. Tate, H. Veihdeffer, N. Schultz, and R. Ybarra.

Guest present: Emily.

Mr. Schultz moved and Mr. Beasley seconded that the reading of the minutes
from the last regular meeting be waived and that they be approved as
written. The motion passed unanimously.

President: Mr. Crawford reported that he is now a BSA Railroading Merit
Badge counselor.

Vice President: Mr. Veihdeffer had no report.

Secretary: Mr. Frozina had no report.

Treasurer: Mr. R. Wetzel was absent.

Publicist: Mr. Morris was absent.

Superintendent: Mr. Beasley had no report.

Control/Electrical: Mr. Veihdeffer and Mr. Frozina reported that the turnouts
have been numbered and labeled; that the block names have been voted on and
that in the case of a tie, a coin was tossed.

Fair Liaison/Relocation: Mr. Schultz reported that he finally had the
long-awaited meeting with McElroy, Jacobs, and someone else (who Norm
couldn't recall, due to his advanced age). They do want us at the new
Fairgrounds, but not in the Club Car. They seem interested in having the N,
G and HO clubs combine. Mr. Schultz requested a 5,000 square-foot building
and an area outside for "live steam". They want a written proposal.

The Fair Relocation Committee is scheduled to meet on 08 November 2000 at
1930 hours at Mr. Schultz's residence to draft our written proposal.
Committee members are Mr. Schultz, Mr. Crawfdord, Mr. Frozina, Mr. Beasley,
Mr. Lacey, Mr. Veihdeffer, and Mr. Ybarra.

Grounds: Mr. Veihdeffer had no report.

Housekeeping: Mr. Lacey had no report.

Inventory: Mr. Frozina had no report.

Rolling Stock: Mr. Veihdeffer requested that the members stop using the
cleaning cars until they themselves are cleaned. Mr. Schultz mentioned that
Tony's Train Xchange had a "scrubber" car in the $40-50 price range.
Mr. Veihdeffer stated that Aztec has a cleaning car in the same price range.

Scenery/Structures: Mr. Veihdeffer had no report.

Track: Mr. Veihdeffer reported that he replaced the damaged turnout on the
lower reversing section of the Desert Division (inner helix loop).

Mr. Veihdeffer reported that it is impossible for a Westbound train, using
right-hand running, to transition from the Valley Division to the Mountain
Division (outer helix loop). He needs to add additional turnouts and
crossings to both the lower and upper reversing sections.

Mr. Veihdeffer reported that a crossover, or double crossover, needs to be
added near the Eastern end of Alpha Yard (large yard on the Mesa Division)
for proper operation.

at his usual haunts, although "boom boxes" abound. He will continue looking.

their installation.

Glendale, Pasadena, and San Gabriel, are holding open houses this month.
Contact Mr. Veihdeffer for more details.

The next regular business meeting will be on Friday, 01 December 2000 at 2000
